What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do not do. Short, because we do not collect much.
The short version
We collect what an order needs and nothing else. We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers on this site. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we never will.
What we collect
When you buy something. Your name, email address, and shipping address, plus what you ordered and what you paid. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe — your card details go from your browser to Stripe and never touch our servers, so we cannot see or store your card number.
When you sign up to the newsletter. Your email address, and nothing else.
When you simply browse. Our host records standard server logs, which include IP addresses and the pages requested. Your basket is stored in your own browser using local storage, not on our servers and not in a tracking cookie — clearing your browser data clears it.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- Order details: because we need them to perform the contract you entered into when you bought something, and to meet tax and accounting obligations afterwards.
- Newsletter: because you consented, and you can withdraw that at any time.
- Server logs: because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that make an order happen, and only the part each one needs:
- Stripe processes payments and receives your name, email, billing and shipping address, and card details.
- Netlify hosts this site and stores order records.
- The supplier filling your order receives your name and shipping address so they can post it to you. They do not receive your email address, your card details, or anything else you have bought.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it. Beyond that, nobody else gets it — we do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies, because we do not use any.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is typically several years. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short period on a rolling basis.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, or by asking us. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to certain processing, or to complain to a data protection regulator.
Email hello@petxo.com and we will action it. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we may have to keep records of a completed order even after a deletion request, where the law requires us to.
Children
This site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we start doing something new with personal information — adding analytics, for example — we will update this page before we do it, and change the date at the bottom.
Who we are
The data controller is [add legal entity name in lib/site.ts], at [add registered business address in lib/site.ts].
